St. Louis, Missouri – Missourians could face life-threatening heat by midweek as rising temperatures and humidity push the heat index as high as 110° in parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, a prolonged stretch of extreme heat is expected to build across Missouri starting Saturday and lasting through at least Wednesday. While scattered thunderstorms this weekend may bring localized relief, the overall trend points toward worsening heat and humidity, especially Monday through Wednesday.

St. Louis, Columbia, and Jefferson City are all included in the elevated risk zone, with heat index values likely reaching 100–110° early next week. Saturday and Sunday will see heat index values between 95–105°, but the highest danger comes Tuesday and Wednesday. Outdoor workers, seniors, and those without air conditioning are most at risk for heat-related illnesses.

Missouri residents are urged to limit time outdoors during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Air-conditioned cooling centers may be opened if conditions persist into late next week.

More heat advisories are likely as confidence grows in the midweek temperature spike.
