ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Residents will enjoy a stretch of mild weather this weekend, but conditions are set to turn hotter by early next week as temperatures push back into the 90s.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, highs Saturday and Sunday will stay seasonable in the 70s to near 80, which is slightly below the early September average of 80 to 83 degrees. By Monday, readings will climb into the lower 80s before surging to 90 or above on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The warming trend will be felt across central and eastern Missouri as well as southwest Illinois, with metro St. Louis expected to hit some of the highest readings. The heat could put extra stress on afternoon commuters and outdoor workers by midweek. Health officials recommend staying hydrated, limiting strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, and checking on vulnerable neighbors once temperatures rebound.

This pattern shift will mark the return of late-summer warmth across the region, with no significant rainfall expected to break the heat early in the week.

Temperatures are likely to stay elevated until at least midweek, with additional weather updates expected from the National Weather Service.
