St. Louis, Mo. – Clouds and slightly cooler air are settling over Missouri to close out the holiday weekend, keeping highs near seasonal levels and bringing only limited rain chances. Most of the state will stay dry, though central Missouri could see scattered showers both Sunday and Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, temperatures Sunday will top out in the lower 80s across eastern Missouri, including St. Louis, while Columbia and Jefferson City hold closer to 80 with a 30 to 40 percent chance of rain. Areas west of I-35, including Chillicothe, carry the highest rain odds, nearing 70 percent.

On Labor Day Monday, clouds linger with slightly cooler highs ranging from the upper 70s in central Missouri to the low 80s eastward. Columbia, Sedalia, and Marshall may see showers with rain chances around 40 to 50 percent, while St. Louis stays drier with highs near 82. Travelers heading back from the holiday should watch for wet roads in central counties but can expect smooth driving east toward Illinois.

Conditions improve by midweek with more sun returning and highs climbing into the 80s statewide.
