St. Louis, MO – Snowfall across the St. Louis metro is already causing significant travel issues Monday, with police responding to numerous crashes across several major highways and intersections.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers have been dispatched to multiple crash scenes as precipitation continues to fall and roads quickly turn slick. Among the most impacted locations are:
• I-70 at Bircher
• I-70 at Kingshighway
• Forest Park at Grand
• I-64 at Hampton
• I-44 at Arsenal
• I-64 at Kingshighway
• Laclede and N. Grand
Police warn that drivers should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions as snowfall continues and temperatures remain near freezing. Officers note that many of the incidents involve vehicles sliding, losing control, or being unable to stop in time on untreated roadways.
According to the department’s public advisory, motorists who must travel should slow down, increase following distance, and give themselves extra room when approaching intersections, freeway ramps, and bridges—which tend to ice first.
Visibility may also fluctuate as heavier bursts of snow move through the city, impacting travel across central St. Louis, the I-70 corridor, and neighborhoods near Forest Park and Midtown.
Transportation officials urge drivers to use caution during the evening commute and to expect delays while first responders continue addressing crash scenes.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local updates and avoid unnecessary travel until road conditions improve.
