St. Louis, MO – The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued another Frost Advisory from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, warning residents across central and southwestern Illinois of another cold morning ahead.
The advisory affects Greene, Macoupin, Montgomery, Fayette, Marion, Brown, and Pike Counties, including cities such as Centralia, Vandalia, Pittsfield, Salem, Mount Sterling, and Litchfield.
According to the NWS, temperatures are expected to dip to between 33°F and 34°F, cold enough to form frost on exposed surfaces. A previous Frost Advisory remains in effect through 9 a.m. Thursday, with Friday morning’s frost marking the second consecutive day of cold overnight lows.
Officials warn that frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation, particularly flowers and garden plants. Residents are advised to cover or bring in plants overnight and take precautions to protect outdoor landscaping and garden areas.
Although Friday afternoon will bring a modest warm-up, overnight lows may remain chilly into the weekend, continuing the risk for patchy frost in rural areas.
