St. Louis, Missouri – Cooler and more seasonable January weather is expected to settle into the region through the weekend, following a stretch of unseasonably warm days.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, mostly dry conditions are forecast overall, though a round of light rain is likely tonight. Forecasters said the rain may briefly mix with or change over to snow in parts of northeast Missouri, but no accumulation is expected.

Friday is expected to remain partly to mostly cloudy across the St. Louis area, with afternoon high temperatures reaching near 50 degrees. Overnight lows are forecast to fall into the 30s as cooler air moves into the region.

On Saturday, clouds are expected to decrease through the day, with highs dropping into the 40s. Saturday night will bring partly cloudy skies and colder overnight lows in the 20s.

By Sunday, mostly sunny conditions are expected, with daytime highs remaining in the 30s, marking a return to more typical January temperatures for eastern Missouri and southwest Illinois.

The National Weather Service emphasized that while temperatures will trend colder, widespread precipitation is not expected after tonight. Roads are not expected to be impacted, as no snow accumulation is forecast even in areas where rain briefly mixes with snow.

Residents commuting overnight or early Friday should remain aware of changing conditions, particularly in northeast Missouri, where brief wintry precipitation could occur. Overall, the weekend forecast favors dry weather and cooler temperatures, offering a quieter stretch after recent warmth.
