St. Louis, MO – A Frost Advisory is in effect late Thursday night into Friday morning across parts of west-central and south-central Illinois, where temperatures are expected to fall into the middle 30s, according to the US National Weather Service St. Louis.
The advisory runs from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, covering areas near Jacksonville, Litchfield, and Vandalia. Forecasters warn that frost formation is likely and could damage or kill sensitive plants if left unprotected.
Residents are urged to cover outdoor vegetation or bring plants inside overnight to prevent frost damage. Skies will remain mostly clear, allowing for strong cooling into the early morning hours before temperatures rebound into the 50s by midday Friday.
This marks another frosty start in what has been a chilly week for the region, though slightly warmer daytime conditions are expected heading into the weekend.
