St. Louis, Missouri – Light snow is expected to move into the St. Louis region Thursday afternoon and continue into early Friday morning, with minor travel impacts possible during peak commute hours.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, confidence has increased that flurries and light snow will develop Thursday afternoon and persist through the overnight hours. Most locations are expected to see little to no accumulation, but a few areas could receive up to one inch of snow, primarily north of Interstate 70.

The NWS indicated that steadier light snow is most likely in northern portions of the region, while areas closer to Interstate 64, Interstate 44, and Interstate 270 should mainly experience intermittent flurries. Even small amounts of snowfall could lead to slick spots on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses.

Forecasters note that the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes may be affected, particularly if snowfall coincides with colder pavement temperatures. While widespread disruptions are not expected, drivers are encouraged to allow extra time and use caution during overnight and early morning travel.

This system is expected to be relatively weak, with snowfall ending by early Friday. No significant accumulation or long-lasting impacts are anticipated beyond localized slick conditions.

The forecast is especially relevant for commuters, students, and early-shift workers traveling before sunrise Friday, as visibility could briefly be reduced in heavier snow bursts north of the metro.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through updated forecasts and local road condition reports as the system passes through the area.
