St. Louis, Missouri – Cold weather will persist across the St. Louis region through the weekend, with subzero wind chills returning overnight and a chance for light snow on Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, early morning wind chills today range from 0 to 15 degrees below zero, with afternoon high temperatures only reaching the lower to mid-20s. Conditions remain cold tonight as wind chills fall back to between 5 degrees above and 5 degrees below zero.

Forecasters say the cold will continue into Sunday, though daytime temperatures are expected to recover slightly, with highs ranging from the mid-20s to mid-30s. Despite the modest warming, cold conditions will remain firmly in place.

Attention then turns to Sunday afternoon, when a 20 to 30 percent chance of light snow is forecast mainly north of Interstate 70. Localized accumulations of up to one-quarter inch are possible across parts of northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois.

While snowfall amounts are expected to remain light, even minor accumulation could lead to slick spots on roads, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Motorists traveling along Interstate 70, Interstate 64, Interstate 55, and nearby highways are advised to remain alert for changing conditions Sunday afternoon and evening.

The cold weekend weather may be especially impactful for commuters, weekend travelers, and outdoor workers, as prolonged exposure to low wind chills increases the risk of cold-related illness without proper precautions.

Residents are encouraged to dress in layers, limit time outdoors when possible, and monitor updates from the National Weather Service as snow chances develop.
