St. Louis, Missouri – A cold front pushing into Missouri and Illinois will bring scattered showers and a few thunderstorms through late tonight, with temperatures falling sharply behind it.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, the front will continue moving southward overnight, dropping temperatures into the mid-40s north of I-70 and into the upper 50s to the south. Storms may be isolated but could bring brief downpours or lightning, especially across west-central Illinois and northeast Missouri.

Roads could become slick in spots as rain lingers through the early morning hours Thursday, particularly along I-70 and into the southern counties. Commuters should allow extra time and avoid standing water. Rain should taper off by mid-morning Thursday, with dry, cooler air settling in. Highs will only reach the low to mid-70s—more than 20 degrees cooler than earlier this week.

Residents are advised to keep devices charged and monitor alerts for any changes in storm intensity. While no widespread severe weather is expected, localized impacts are possible.

Showers will clear south by Thursday mid-morning, but fall-like temperatures will linger. More seasonal weather is expected into the weekend.
