St. Louis, Missouri – A 30 to 60 percent chance of rain Saturday into Saturday night could impact travel along the I-70 corridor, with higher soaking potential south of the interstate.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, rain chances will increase across eastern Missouri and southwest Illinois beginning Saturday and continuing into Saturday night. Most areas are expected to see at least some rainfall, though the best potential for a widespread soaking rain is generally south of Interstate 70.

Communities including Farmington, Rolla, and areas along U.S. Route 67 may see steadier rainfall compared to locations farther north. Columbia and other areas near I-70 remain in the 30 to 60 percent probability range.

Forecasters indicate a medium chance that outdoor activities could be impacted by periods of cold rain. While rainfall totals are still being refined, precipitation may be persistent enough at times to produce wet roadways and reduced visibility.

Drivers along Interstate 70 through St. Louis and Columbia, Interstate 44 toward Rolla, and Interstate 64 into Illinois should prepare for slick pavement and slower travel speeds, especially during heavier showers Saturday evening.

Temperatures are expected to remain cool during the rainfall, contributing to raw conditions for those outdoors.

Rain chances will taper late Saturday night, with improving conditions expected Sunday.

Commuters, weekend travelers, and event planners should monitor forecast updates as rainfall timing and intensity become clearer.
