St. Louis, MO – A late-night ATV ride through Downtown St. Louis ended with felony charges Tuesday after police say a man recklessly weaved through traffic, performed wheelies, and even drove on sidewalks.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, Mobile Reserve officers and Anti-Crime Task Force detectives spotted the man riding an ATV dangerously in the downtown area. Officers attempted a traffic stop and used their loudspeaker to order the rider to pull over, but he allegedly ignored commands.
The city’s Real-Time Crime Center monitored the incident on cameras and updated officers on the man’s movements. Authorities say the chase ended near Riverview and Hall, where the suspect was taken into custody.
Police identified the suspect as a 41-year-old man who now faces felony charges for resisting arrest and unlawfully operating an ATV on a city street.
“This type of reckless behavior will not be tolerated,” police said in a statement, emphasizing that they are working with the Circuit Attorney’s Office to hold individuals accountable. “If you use it, you will lose it. The safety of our community is our top priority.”
No injuries were reported in the incident. Police urged residents to report reckless ATV use and reminded drivers that operating off-road vehicles on city streets is both dangerous and illegal.
