St. Louis, MO – Cloudy and cold conditions are expected across Missouri and Illinois today, with a chance for light snow showers developing later this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

Forecasters say the best chance for snowflakes will be across central Illinois, particularly between Quincy and Springfield, where minor travel impacts are possible during the late afternoon and evening commute.

Accumulations are expected to remain light, but even a dusting could create slick spots on untreated roads, especially as temperatures fall into the upper 20s and low 30s tonight. The NWS notes that if the storm track shifts farther southwest, some areas of eastern Missouri could also see snow flurries by evening.

Drivers are urged to use caution during the evening rush and allow extra travel time if snow develops.
