St. Louis, MO – Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect connected to a downtown shooting that left a 24-year-old man injured late last week.
According to St. Louis Metropolitan Police, officers responded just before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and North 10th Street in downtown St. Louis, located in the City of St. Louis near the city’s central corridor.
Police said officers arrived to find a 24-year-old man inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Preliminary information provided to investigators indicated the man was driving through the area when he heard gunshots. Shortly afterward, he felt pain and realized he had been struck by gunfire, according to police. Investigators believe the shots were fired from another vehicle.
Following the investigation, District 4 detectives identified a suspect who is now wanted in connection with the shooting. Police describe the suspect as a younger Black male with a thin build and medium-length dreadlocks. At the time of the incident, he was allegedly wearing a jacket or coat with a distinct design.
Detectives say the suspect was a passenger in a possibly 2012 silver Mazda 3 with black rims and visible damage to the front driver’s-side fender. The vehicle is believed to have a Missouri license plate reading “BJ6T6W.”
Authorities are urging anyone who may recognize the suspect or vehicle, or who has information about the incident, to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477) or directly to detectives at 314-444-2500. Police say only tips submitted through CrimeStoppers that lead to a felony arrest are eligible for a cash reward.
