St. Louis, Missouri – A cold front will move through the St. Louis region tonight, bringing scattered showers followed by gusty winds and cooler conditions on Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, the best chance for showers will be along and south of Interstate 70 as the front passes overnight. Rain probabilities range from 20–30 percent near I-70 to around 60 percent across southeast Missouri. Most areas north of I-70 are expected to see little or no precipitation.
Overnight conditions will remain mostly cloudy, with low temperatures between 30 and 40 degrees. A secondary and stronger push of colder air is expected to arrive early Wednesday morning, reinforcing cooler conditions across eastern Missouri and southwest Illinois.
On Wednesday, skies are expected to gradually clear, but conditions will turn blustery as northwest winds increase. Wind gusts are forecast to reach 20 to 30 miles per hour, keeping temperatures from rising much during the day. Highs are expected to range from 32 to 42 degrees, with wind chills largely in the 20s.
Forecasters said temperatures will remain relatively steady through the day Wednesday due to the persistent cold air and strong winds behind the departing front.
Communities including St. Louis, St. Charles, Belleville, Alton, Farmington, and surrounding areas may notice sharply cooler conditions compared to earlier in the week, especially during the morning and afternoon hours.
No watches or advisories were issued with this update, but residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts overnight for changes in precipitation coverage or wind strength.
