St. Louis, MO – Unseasonably warm temperatures across the St. Louis region will persist through Saturday before a strong cold front brings a sharp cooldown and gusty winds late this weekend into early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, temperatures will fluctuate through the remainder of the week due to lingering clouds and a weaker cold front, but overall readings will remain well above seasonal averages. Highs are expected to reach the lower to mid-70s Wednesday through Saturday, with overnight lows generally staying in the 40s and 50s.

A stronger cold front is forecast to move through the region late Saturday into Sunday. Forecasters say this system will usher in sharply colder air along with brisk winds, marking a significant shift from the mild holiday conditions.

By Sunday, high temperatures are expected to fall into the 40s, with lows dropping into the 30s. Colder air will deepen Sunday night into Monday, when highs are forecast to range from the mid-20s to low 30s, and overnight lows may fall into the teens.

Winds will increase behind the front, adding an extra chill to the colder temperatures and making it feel more winterlike early next week. The National Weather Service notes that temperatures will run below average by Monday and Tuesday following the weekend warmth.

This forecast is especially relevant for holiday travelers, commuters, and anyone with outdoor plans late this weekend, as conditions will change quickly over a short period.

Residents are encouraged to prepare for the abrupt temperature drop, secure loose outdoor items ahead of the wind, and continue monitoring forecast updates as the cold front approaches.
