St. Louis, Mo. – Residents in northern Missouri and parts of west-central Illinois should prepare for multiple rounds of thunderstorms through Monday morning, with the greatest impact expected north of Interstate 70. The storms could bring damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, isolated flooding, and frequent lightning.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, the highest risk for severe conditions will stretch from late Saturday evening through Sunday evening, with the potential for locally heavy rainfall across communities including Kirksville, Moberly, and Hannibal. The risk of flash flooding will be greatest in low-lying areas and along small streams.

Travelers on I-70 and connecting highways should be ready for sudden visibility drops and ponding on roads. Residents are urged to monitor changing conditions and keep multiple ways to receive warnings, such as NOAA Weather Radio or mobile alerts.

While southern Missouri will likely stay drier, residents across the region should remain aware as storm tracks could shift. Additional watches or warnings may be issued if conditions intensify.
