St. Louis, Mo. – Storms could bring hail and heavy rain to parts of Missouri Wednesday night before a sharp cooldown arrives, bringing relief to the region after several days of summer heat.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, rain chances climb steadily through Wednesday as a strong cold front pushes across central Missouri. Some storms could produce small hail, but forecasters expect most areas to receive beneficial rainfall. Temperatures, which are expected to reach the upper 80s Wednesday afternoon, will tumble 10 to 15 degrees by Thursday.

The St. Louis metro could see storms develop late Wednesday, especially along the I-70 corridor, where commuters should prepare for slower travel in heavy rain. Gusty winds are also possible, though the greatest severe threat remains west of the city. By Thursday morning, skies clear and highs settle in the low to mid-70s, with much drier air holding through the weekend.

Residents are advised to stay alert to weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm hours Wednesday night. Cooler, sunny conditions are expected to dominate Thursday through Saturday, offering a break from summer’s heat.
