St. Louis, MO – A classic Midwest weather swing is setting up for the workweek, with temperatures warming dramatically Tuesday before another round of colder air arrives late week, according to the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

Today remains partly cloudy and cold, with highs in the upper 30s to around 40 across the metro. Overnight lows drop into the low to mid-20s before a much milder air mass moves in Tuesday. Forecasters expect highs in the mid-40s to mid-50s, marking the warmest day since before Thanksgiving for much of eastern Missouri and southwest Illinois.

Clouds increase Wednesday as colder air begins pushing south. Highs fall back into the 40s, with overnight lows settling into the 20s.

By Thursday, another push of cold air takes hold, and a 20% chance of light snow enters the forecast. While any accumulations appear minimal at this time, slick spots could develop early if snow mixes with colder pavement temperatures. Highs will hover in the low to mid-30s.

Even colder air arrives Friday into the weekend with highs only in the 30s and lows in the teens to lower 20s.

Residents should prepare for a warm-up followed by a sharp cooldown—typical of early December in the region.
