St. Louis County, Missouri – Crews will close the Route D and Route 67 interchange Friday night to demolish the Route D bridge, forcing multi-day detours for north–south traffic.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the interchange closure will begin at 8 p.m. Friday and remain in place through 5 a.m. Monday to allow crews to safely remove the existing bridge structure.

During the closure, both northbound and southbound Route 67 traffic will be diverted using nearby overpass routes. Westbound Route D drivers will detour to northbound Route 67 and Midland Avenue to access southbound Route 67, while eastbound Route D drivers will detour to southbound Route 67 via Olive Boulevard before rejoining northbound Route 67 and eastbound Route D.

MoDOT said all loop ramps at the interchange will be closed during the demolition work. Changeable message signs will be placed in advance of the closure to warn drivers and direct traffic through the posted detours.

The bridge demolition marks a major phase of the ongoing Route D bridge replacement project. After traffic reopens at 5 a.m. Monday, drivers will be shifted onto the new eastbound side of the Route D bridge. Detours will remain in place until September as construction continues on the remaining portions of the project.

Motorists traveling through the Page Avenue and Route 67 corridor are urged to plan for additional travel time, especially during overnight and early morning hours. Commuters, students, and shift workers who regularly use the interchange may want to identify alternate routes during the closure window.

Additional information and project updates are available through MoDOT’s Route D bridge replacement project page.
