St. Louis, MO – Waves of showers and thunderstorms will impact Missouri and the greater St. Louis region through Wednesday, with forecasters warning of heavy rainfall in some locations.
According to the US National Weather Service in St. Louis, most areas will see light to moderate rain, but isolated spots could receive up to 3 inches by mid-week. The agency cautioned that thunderstorms will be capable of producing heavy downpours, raising concerns for ponding on roads and travel delays.
The rain pattern is expected to develop in waves, continuing into Wednesday. Jefferson City, St. Louis, and surrounding communities are included in the forecast zone. While widespread flooding is not anticipated, localized heavier amounts could lead to water accumulation in low-lying and poor-drainage areas.
Forecasters advised residents to keep umbrellas and rain gear handy, as well as allow extra travel time for commutes. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution, particularly during periods of heavy rain when visibility and roadway conditions may be compromised.
The National Weather Service will continue to provide updates as the system moves through the region.
