St. Louis, MO – Residents across Missouri and southwest Illinois should prepare for rainy weather Wednesday as remnants of Hurricane Raphael bring moisture to the area. According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, light showers are expected to develop throughout the day, with up to an 80% chance of rain by the afternoon, particularly impacting southeast Missouri and surrounding regions. Commuters should plan for wet roads and possible traffic delays due to light rain.

The NWS reports that rainfall totals will likely stay below a quarter of an inch in most areas. However, southeast Missouri and parts of southwest Illinois could experience slightly higher rainfall levels due to lingering moisture from the hurricane, which might lead to increased wet conditions during peak travel hours. Thunderstorms are possible, with the heaviest rain expected to remain southeast of St. Louis.

Temperatures on Wednesday are forecasted to reach a high of around 60°F, with evening lows dipping to the mid-40s. Winds are expected to shift southeastward, reaching speeds of up to 8 mph. Looking further into the week, Thursday should bring sunny skies and a high near 58°F, followed by mostly clear conditions Thursday night. Friday will continue the dry trend with temperatures rising to a comfortable 61°F.

Residents should check local weather updates for the latest details and stay prepared for possible slick conditions on roads, especially during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.
