Algonac, MI – A missing woman from Madison Heights was recovered from the North Channel near Algonac after dive teams located a submerged vehicle, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said the woman was reported missing last week, with cellular data suggesting she was in the area. Initial searches turned up nothing, but investigators later obtained information that indicated she might have entered the water near the Algonac Boat Launch.

The St. Clair County Marine Division used sonar to locate the vehicle underwater in close proximity to the last known cell signal. Working with multiple departments—including dive teams from Oakland, Wayne, and Shelby Townships, as well as Chesterfield Township Fire Department and Southeast Michigan Dive Group—the team brought the vehicle to the surface and safely removed it from the water.

Sheriff Mat King praised the “excellent work” of all agencies involved, commending their coordination and persistence in the recovery effort. The Algonac Fire Department and Department of Public Works also assisted by keeping the area accessible and providing shelter to responders in cold weather.

Authorities have not yet released the woman’s identity.
