St. Charles, Illinois — The City of St. Charles announced today that the City would be appointing a new Chief of Police in September.
City Administrator Heather McGuire will formally recommend Daniel J. Likens for Chief of Police at the September 2 City Council Meeting. Likens will assume the role beginning September 15 following the official appointment by Mayor Clint Hull and full CIty Council approval.
Likens previously worked with the Illinois State Police, where he ultimately held the position of Lieutenant Colonel/Assistant Deputy Director of the Division of Criminal Investigation. There, he led and managed statewide INvestigative Command for 102 counties and 585 law enforcement agencies. Likens has 30 years of law enforcement experience.
Serving as Acting Chief of the Police Department has been Deputy Chief Eric Majewski.
“St. Charles has been fortunate to have a strong tradition of outstanding police leadership, and I’m confident Daniel Likens will carry on that legacy. St. Charles is in good hands,” Hull said in the press release.
