St. Charles County, MO – Drivers traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 this weekend should expect lane reductions as part of ongoing construction on the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), the right lane of eastbound I-70 between Wentzville Parkway and Route Z will close at 9 p.m. on Friday, October 24. The lane is expected to reopen by 9 a.m. Sunday, October 26, weather permitting.

MoDOT said the closure is necessary for crews to complete drainage work and begin constructing a temporary railroad bridge over I-70 near the curve between Wentzville Parkway and Route Z. The interstate is being realigned at this location to accommodate a new permanent railroad bridge that will be built as part of the larger improvement project.

The $2.8 billion Improve I-70 initiative covers upgrades along the corridor from Kansas City to St. Louis. This eastern segment, awarded in November 2024, will continue through 2028.

Motorists are advised to use caution in the work zone and allow extra travel time over the weekend. Updates can be found on MoDOT’s official project page at modot.org/node/78445.
