Springfield, Mo. – Light rain will spread across much of Missouri today, with chances of showers continuing into tonight. Some spots near the Missouri-Arkansas border could also hear a few rumbles of thunder before the system exits early Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, a cold front is moving through the state, bringing widespread 40–70% chances of showers. Most areas will see less than a quarter-inch of rain, though localized totals up to a half-inch are possible.
The highest rainfall chances extend from Branson and West Plains through southern Missouri counties bordering Arkansas. Thunderstorms are most likely near the state line, though severe weather is not expected. Drivers should be cautious of slick roads during heavier downpours, especially along U.S. 65 and I-44.
Outdoor activities may be interrupted by passing showers, but flooding or significant impacts are not anticipated. Residents should keep umbrellas and rain gear handy if heading out this evening.
Scattered showers are expected to linger overnight before tapering off by early Saturday. More updates may follow if additional storm development occurs near the border.
