Springfield, MO – Cooler air settles into Springfield tonight and Sunday, but a rapid weather shift arrives early this week with thunderstorms possible Monday and a noticeable warmup on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service Springfield office.

According to forecasters, tonight will be partly cloudy and cooler, with lows between 43 and 49 degrees across Springfield and the surrounding Ozarks. Sunday stays dry with comfortable humidity levels and highs ranging from 60 to 70 degrees.

Storm chances increase Monday, particularly east of Highway 65, where the NWS estimates a 20% to 40% likelihood of showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon and continuing into Monday night. Highs will range widely from the upper 50s to low 70s depending on cloud cover and storm activity.

A dramatic temperature jump arrives Tuesday as warmer air pushes into the region. Forecast highs between 71 and 79 degrees are expected across southwest Missouri, making it one of the warmest days of the month. Conditions remain dry during the day, though clouds will begin to build ahead of the next system.

Widespread rain chances return Wednesday, with a 40% to 70% probability as a more substantial disturbance sweeps through the Ozarks. Highs will hold in the mid-60s to low 70s before a gradual cool-down late week.

Residents in Springfield, Nixa, Ozark, Willard, and surrounding communities should prepare for shifting temperatures, a brief storm window Monday, and steady rain potential midweek as the active pattern develops.
