Springfield, Missouri – A weak weather system is expected to bring a chance of light rain to parts of the Missouri Ozarks tonight, with otherwise dry and seasonable conditions forecast through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, an upper-level disturbance moving through the region will produce light rain chances tonight, primarily north of Interstate 44. Rainfall amounts are expected to be minimal, and no impacts or hazards are anticipated.

Friday will feature partly sunny skies across much of southwest Missouri, with afternoon high temperatures ranging from 49 to 59 degrees. As clouds increase tonight, overnight lows are forecast to fall between 31 and 40 degrees, depending on location.

The remainder of the weekend is expected to remain dry. On Saturday, skies will gradually clear, with daytime highs reaching the mid-40s to near 50 degrees and overnight lows dropping into the low to mid-20s under partly cloudy conditions.

Sunday will bring mostly sunny skies and slightly cooler temperatures, with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s and clear to mostly clear conditions Sunday night. By Monday, temperatures will begin to moderate, with highs climbing into the mid-50s under mostly sunny skies.

Tuesday is forecast to remain mild for early January, with increasing clouds and highs reaching the mid-50s to low 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters noted that no significant precipitation or hazardous weather is expected after tonight’s light rain chances. Roads and travel conditions are expected to remain favorable throughout the weekend.

Residents should continue to monitor updates in case rain coverage shifts, but overall the forecast points to a quiet stretch of weather with a gradual warming trend early next week. Commuters and students traveling tonight north of I-44 may encounter brief light rain, but impacts are expected to be minimal.
