Springfield, Missouri – A midweek storm system is on track to bring thunderstorms and a noticeable drop in temperatures across Missouri starting Wednesday night, following a few rounds of light showers early this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, isolated showers (20–30% chance) will linger through Monday night into Tuesday, mainly impacting the Ozarks and surrounding areas. Tuesday brings scattered rain chances with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s, followed by drier, sunnier conditions on Wednesday.

However, a cold front expected to arrive Wednesday evening will usher in a 40–70% chance of thunderstorms across much of southwest Missouri, including Springfield, Branson, and Lebanon. Temperatures are forecast to fall into the low 50s overnight as the front moves through.

Thursday will feel much cooler, with highs only reaching the upper 70s. Light rain may return Friday, though confidence remains low.

Drivers should stay alert for slick roads Wednesday night, especially along U.S. Route 65 and I-44. Residents are urged to charge devices and prepare for possible lightning or brief power outages.

More detailed advisories could be issued as the storm system nears.
