Springfield, Mo. – After several warm days, Missouri will see a welcome cool-down beginning early next week, bringing highs well below seasonal averages.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, Saturday’s temperatures will peak between 84 and 91 degrees, followed by another hot day Sunday with highs near 87. By Monday, however, cooler air will settle in across the Ozarks, keeping daytime highs in the mid-70s to upper 70s—nearly 10 degrees below normal for late August.

The shift will be felt across southwest Missouri, including Springfield, Branson, Joplin, and Rolla, where residents can expect more comfortable afternoons and less strain on air conditioners. Drivers should also be aware of the potential for morning fog as cooler nights meet lingering humidity.

The National Weather Service notes that this cooler stretch may last through midweek, with highs holding in the upper 70s to around 81 through Wednesday. Outdoor plans, yard work, and school activities should be more comfortable compared to the recent heat.

More updates will be issued if conditions change, but for now, the pattern points to a break from late-summer heat.
