Springfield, MO – A stretch of wet and windy weather is on the way for southwest Missouri, with rain chances peaking Tuesday and Wednesday and gusty winds accompanying cooler temperatures, according to the National Weather Service in Springfield.

Forecasters expect widespread rain beginning Tuesday morning, with probabilities between 60–90%, and northwest wind gusts of 25–35 mph. Rain will taper to scattered showers Wednesday, but winds could strengthen, reaching 30–40 mph in open areas.

Highs will range from the upper 50s to low 60s Tuesday before dipping into the low 50s Wednesday, with overnight lows in the upper 30s to low 40s.

Conditions are expected to dry out Thursday, bringing partly sunny skies and gradual warming heading into Friday, when highs return to the upper 50s and low 60s.

Drivers and those with outdoor plans should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility during rain periods and secure any lightweight outdoor items ahead of the windier conditions.
