According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, the heat will continue through Sunday with a slight chance of thunderstorms during the day. Sunday night is likely to see greater storm activity, with a 15-30% chance of showers, bringing brief relief from the heat. Overnight lows will remain warm, dipping only to between 60 and 70 degrees.

Looking ahead, the week from Monday through Friday will bring slightly cooler, yet still warm, temperatures ranging from the low 80s to the upper 80s. Mostly clear skies are expected during this period, providing a break from the weekend’s scorching heat. While Monday will see temperatures in the mid-80s, the rest of the week will experience highs around 82 degrees, with lows in the 60s.
