Springfield, MO – Warmer-than-normal conditions are expected to linger across the Missouri Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Springfield.

Forecasters report that high temperatures will remain in the mid-80s on Sunday and Monday before gradually dropping as a cold front moves through the region. By Wednesday, daytime highs are expected to fall into the upper 70s, reaching closer to seasonal averages for early October.

According to the NWS forecast chart, temperatures will peak near 86°F on both Sunday and Monday, dip to around 82°F Tuesday, and then fall to 76°F and 74°F by midweek. The change marks a shift from the unseasonably warm weekend to more typical autumn conditions.

Meteorologists say the front will also bring a slight chance of increased cloud cover and breezy conditions, though widespread rain is not expected at this time. Cooler, more comfortable air is forecast to persist through Thursday, with highs stabilizing near 76–80°F.

Residents are advised to enjoy the early-week warmth but prepare for noticeably cooler mornings later in the week.
