Springfield, MO – A brief taste of fall continues across southwest Missouri as a cold front settles cooler air into the region through Thursday. According to the US National Weather Service in Springfield, temperatures will hover near seasonal averages midweek before a steady warming trend begins heading into the weekend.

Daytime highs Wednesday and Thursday are expected to range from the low to mid-70s, with overnight lows dipping into the low 40s. By Friday, temperatures will rebound into the upper 70s, climbing into the low 80s by Saturday as dry and sunny conditions take hold.

The Weather Service notes that these weekend highs will sit several degrees above the normal range for early October, which typically runs between 69–74°F for highs and 47–51°F for lows. After a mostly cloudy start to the week, skies are expected to clear by Thursday, with sunshine dominating through Sunday.

Residents can expect comfortable fall weather for outdoor plans and travel across the Ozarks, with no significant rain chances through the weekend.
