Springfield, Missouri – Dry and quiet weather is settling across the region, bringing warming temperatures and sunshine through New Year’s Day and into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, Tuesday is expected to remain dry with plenty of sunshine as temperatures climb into the upper 30s to mid-40s. While winds will stay relatively light, forecasters note localized areas of elevated fire conditions, particularly where vegetation remains dry.

Tonight, temperatures are forecast to fall into the mid-20s to lower 30s, with winds becoming light and variable overnight. No precipitation is expected.

The dry pattern continues into New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, with a noticeable warming trend. High temperatures on New Year’s Eve are forecast between 46 and 54 degrees, followed by overnight lows ranging from 26 to 35 degrees. On New Year’s Day, highs are expected to reach 46 to 59 degrees, with the warmest readings favored across southern portions of the region.

Looking ahead to the weekend, above-normal temperatures are expected to persist. Forecast highs range from upper 40s to mid-50s on Friday and Saturday, before climbing into the mid-50s to mid-60s by Sunday, especially across southern Missouri and nearby southeast Kansas. Overnight lows throughout the period generally remain in the upper 20s to upper 30s.

No significant rain chances appear in the forecast through the weekend, keeping conditions favorable for travel and outdoor plans. Commuters and holiday travelers can expect dry roads and mild afternoons, though chilly mornings will continue.

Forecasters advise residents to remain cautious with outdoor burning due to dry conditions, even as winds stay limited.
