Springfield, Mo. – Southwest Missouri will hang onto summer heat for a few more days, with highs near the low 90s stretching into the weekend before cooler air slips in by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, most of the region will stay dry, though a slim 10–20% chance of showers and thunderstorms remains possible along the Missouri-Arkansas border. Any rain will be brief, and the majority of communities from Branson to Lebanon should see plenty of sun.

Highs Thursday through Saturday are expected to push into the upper 80s to low 90s, with nighttime lows ranging from the upper 50s to upper 60s. By Sunday, conditions ease back into the low to mid-80s, offering a break from the heat.

Drivers may want to stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours. Farmers and outdoor workers in particular should plan around the hottest part of the day.
