SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms could dampen parts of southern Missouri through Tuesday, especially along and east of Highway 63. The National Weather Service in Springfield reports rain chances between 15% and 60%, with most areas staying dry. Any rainfall that does develop will generally total less than half an inch.
According to the National Weather Service, a weak cold front will push through the Ozarks by Tuesday night, dropping temperatures into a more typical early October range. Highs that reached the upper 80s Monday will fall to the low- to mid-70s by midweek before warming again after Thursday.
Communities east of Springfield—including West Plains, Rolla, and Salem—stand the best chance for light rain or a brief thunderstorm through Tuesday evening. Drivers should keep an umbrella handy and be alert for wet roads, though no flooding or severe weather is expected.
Conditions turn drier and seasonable by Wednesday, with sunshine returning late week and highs climbing back into the 80s by Friday.
