Springfield, Mo. – After days of sweltering heat, residents across southern Missouri will see relief as temperatures fall closer to seasonal norms through the weekend. The National Weather Service in Springfield reported highs between 87 and 95 degrees on Wednesday, with isolated storms possible before a cooling trend sets in.
According to forecasters, rain chances diminish after Wednesday evening, leaving behind several dry and sunny days. Highs on Thursday will dip to the mid-80s to near 90, followed by cooler nights in the upper 50s. By the weekend, below-average temperatures are expected, with daytime highs hovering in the upper 70s to mid-80s and lows dipping into the 50s.
The Ozarks region, including Springfield, Branson, and Joplin, will benefit from the break in heat. Outdoor activities and travel will be more comfortable, though residents are urged to stay hydrated and continue monitoring local advisories as temperatures adjust.
The National Weather Service noted that the cooler stretch should persist into early next week, with Monday’s highs likely topping out in the mid-70s to low 80s under mostly sunny skies.
