Springfield, Mo. – A dry and warming pattern is set to grip Missouri this week, with temperatures steadily climbing back into the 90s by Thursday and Friday. While most of the state will see sunny and quiet conditions, residents should be prepared for a return of summer heat late in the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, only a small chance of showers—around 30 percent or less—is possible west of Springfield late Monday into early Tuesday morning. Beyond that, skies remain mostly sunny, with highs beginning in the upper 70s to low 80s Monday before jumping into the 90s by midweek.
Southwest Missouri communities including Joplin, Branson, and Lebanon can expect highs in the mid-80s Wednesday, pushing into the mid to upper 90s by Friday. Overnight lows will remain mild, ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s. The return of hot, dry weather could stress outdoor workers and raise fire concerns in rural areas where vegetation is drying out.
Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on neighbors without reliable cooling.
The stretch of sunshine and rising heat looks to persist through the weekend, with little chance of relief until early next week.
