Springfield, IL – Central Illinois will kick off the new week with seasonable temperatures and mostly quiet conditions before two separate rounds of rain move through Monday night into Tuesday and again Wednesday night into Thursday. Forecasters say the region will experience a mix of cool nights, mild afternoons, and increasing rain chances as the week progresses.

According to the National Weather Service in Central Illinois, temperatures tonight will fall into the 25–31°F range under mostly clear skies. Monday will bring highs between 51–57°F, with late-day showers possible as moisture increases ahead of the first disturbance. By Tuesday, rain chances rise significantly, with the agency projecting a 60–80% likelihood of showers as highs climb into the 50–65°F range.

Wednesday offers a brief break from widespread rain, though clouds will linger as highs reach the lower to mid-60s. Overnight lows will hold in the upper 30s to upper 40s, keeping conditions cool but near normal for mid-November. Another surge of moisture arrives Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing another 60–80% chance for rain and highs between 60–65°F.

Forecasters note that while neither system appears severe at this time, both could affect commutes—especially Tuesday morning and early Thursday. Light rainfall totals are expected, though repeated showers could lead to minor ponding on roads.

Residents across Sangamon County and surrounding areas are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts throughout the week as timing and rainfall amounts may shift.
