ATLANTA, GA – A late-season cold snap brought frost to much of Georgia, but warmer temperatures are on the way this weekend. Residents in Atlanta and surrounding areas woke up to temperatures as low as 28°F on Friday morning. However, by Saturday, highs will climb into the low 70s, signaling a return to spring-like conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Peachtree City, the frost advisory expired at 10 a.m. Friday, with sunny skies expected throughout the day. Saturday will see highs near 71°F, with light winds from the west. Sunday brings even warmer conditions, with temperatures reaching 76°F.

Weekend Outlook and Travel Considerations

With the temperature swing, morning frost could still affect some areas Saturday, especially in shaded regions. Drivers should watch for slick spots on bridges and overpasses early in the day. However, clear skies and calm winds will make for ideal outdoor plans by the afternoon.

By Sunday night, rain chances increase, with showers expected after 2 a.m. into Monday morning. Thunderstorms are possible before 8 a.m. Monday, followed by scattered rain through the afternoon.

Looking Ahead: Next Week’s Forecast

Tuesday and Wednesday will bring more typical spring weather, with highs in the low 70s and mostly sunny skies. Nights will remain cool, with lows in the 40s and 50s.

Residents should take precautions with outdoor plants Friday night but can look forward to a much warmer and pleasant weekend.
