Spotsylvania, VA – A Spotsylvania County man is in custody after deputies say he led them on a high-speed chase reaching 130 mph before crashing off Interstate 95 Tuesday night.

According to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 9:07 p.m. on September 16, 2025, when deputies responded to the 10000 block of Patriot Highway for a report of an armed brandishing. Authorities said a deputy spotted the suspect’s vehicle and attempted a stop, but the driver fled north toward I-95.

Deputies reported that the chase continued at dangerous speeds, weaving through traffic and allegedly endangering other motorists. The suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Dareion English of Spotsylvania, eventually crashed near the Ladysmith off-ramp. Virginia State Police quickly took English into custody, and a firearm was recovered inside the vehicle, according to officials.

The sheriff’s office said English faces multiple charges, including felony eluding, reckless driving, possession of narcotics, driving on a suspended license, displaying fictitious plates, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.

Authorities emphasized that no civilians were injured during the pursuit. Deputies credited teamwork with Virginia State Police for helping bring the situation under control safely.
