The incident happened around 11:55 p.m. in the 10200 block of Patriot Highway, where deputies responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, Vallejo has been charged under §18.2-894 (Felony Hit & Run) for failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving injury or death. Additional charges may follow after consultation with the Spotsylvania County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Deputies said Bijsesse, who had no fixed address, was pronounced dead at the scene before emergency responders arrived. The sheriff’s office extended condolences to his family and thanked residents whose tips led to the arrest.
