SPOKANE, WA – A band of moderate snow is moving across northeast Washington and north Idaho Friday afternoon, leading to slick and wintry road conditions, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Spokane.

The snow is expected to continue through about 5 p.m., with total accumulations generally ranging from a trace to 2 inches. Heavier snowfall amounts have been observed near Colville and Sandpoint, where webcams show partially snow-covered roads.

Communities including Chewelah, Deer Park, Bonners Ferry, and Libby are seeing lighter accumulations around an inch, while areas south toward Spokane and Kellogg are experiencing little to no measurable snow.

While totals remain modest, forecasters say winter travel conditions are expected, especially on secondary highways, rural roads, and mountain passes. Drivers are urged to use caution, reduce speeds, and allow extra travel time through the evening.

Snow is expected to taper off later tonight, with mostly dry conditions returning into the weekend.
