Spokane, WA – The National Weather Service in Spokane is warning residents across Eastern Washington and North Idaho to prepare for a wet and windy start to the week, with multiple rounds of rain and strong winds expected from Monday through Wednesday.
Forecasters report southwesterly winds of 20–35 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph possible Monday night into Tuesday across the Columbia Basin, Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area, Palouse, and foothills of the Blue Mountains.
At the same time, heavy rain is forecast across the North Cascades and north Idaho mountains, where 1 inch or more could fall by Tuesday. This combination of rain and snowmelt may lead to rises along creeks and streams and increased risk of rock and mudslides in steep terrain, especially in Chelan and western Okanogan counties.
Potential impacts include downed tree branches, power outages, and travel difficulties for high-profile vehicles. Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects, avoid driving in strong wind zones, and watch for debris or flooded areas on rural roads.
