Spokane, Wash. – Inland Northwest residents are bracing for a prolonged stretch of dangerous heat, with temperatures soaring close to 100 degrees through early next week. Highs in Spokane will climb from 93 on Friday to 99 by Monday, bringing the risk of heat-related illness for those without access to cooling.

According to the National Weather Service, Spokane will see mostly sunny skies with light northeast winds through Tuesday, allowing heat to build across the region. Overnight lows will only fall into the lower to mid-60s, offering limited relief during the overnight hours.

The heat wave is expected to impact travel, outdoor events, and daily routines in Spokane, Cheney, and nearby communities. Officials urge residents to avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, check on vulnerable neighbors, and keep pets hydrated. Cooling shelters may open if temperatures climb further into the triple digits.

The hottest stretch arrives Sunday through Tuesday when highs in Spokane and surrounding counties remain in the upper 90s. While conditions stay dry, the heat will elevate wildfire danger across eastern Washington’s valleys and foothills.

Hot, sunny weather is forecast to persist into midweek, with only slight cooling expected by Thursday.
