SPOKANE, Wash. – Drivers across eastern Washington may face reduced visibility and wet pavement Wednesday as haze lingers and thunderstorms threaten Spokane. Afternoon commuters, especially along Interstate 90, should prepare for slower travel and sudden downpours during peak drive times.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread haze will hang over the city through late morning Wednesday before clouds build and storms develop. Showers and thunderstorms are most likely after 5 p.m., with some storms capable of producing brief heavy rain and lightning.

Temperatures will climb to near 86 degrees by afternoon, but conditions will shift quickly as clouds roll in. Overnight lows dip to around 59, offering some relief. Light winds mean smoke and haze may remain trapped in the valley, reducing air quality and visibility.

On Thursday, the chance of showers lingers, with thunderstorms possible into the afternoon. Highs hover near 80 degrees. Friday looks drier and cooler, topping out around 79, though another round of isolated storms could return Friday night.

Residents are advised to keep devices charged, limit outdoor activities during hazy conditions, and use caution if driving in heavy rain. Outdoor events may see interruptions Wednesday evening.

The unsettled pattern signals fall weather settling into eastern Washington. More updates are expected as additional advisories may be issued through midweek.
