Spokane Valley, Washington – Residents at a Spokane Valley apartment complex were awakened just after midnight Thursday as a neighbor allegedly shouted threats, used racial slurs, and attempted to break a window, prompting a swift law enforcement response.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 12:15 a.m. near East Main Avenue and North Pines Road for a harassment call. Investigators say a 55-year-old man, identified as Jeffrey G. Bueckers, yelled profanities and ethnic slurs, banged on shared walls, and later struck a victim’s window hard enough that occupants feared it would shatter.
Deputies reported hearing the suspect yelling upon arrival. After initial resistance, he exited his apartment and was detained. Victims told deputies they feared for their lives after the suspect allegedly threatened to kill them and burn their vehicle.
Authorities noted multiple residents live in the complex, but the suspect allegedly targeted specific individuals based on ethnicity. He now faces felony harassment and hate crime charges and was booked into the Spokane County Jail.
No physical injuries were reported. Officials say the investigation remains active, and additional charges could follow.
