Spokane Valley, WA – Two suspects were taken into custody Tuesday evening after allegedly attempting to steal alcohol from a Spokane Valley store, despite one admitting he had the money to pay for it, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 6:20 p.m. on November 5, 2025, to a reported theft in the 13000 block of East Sprague Avenue. Employees told responding deputies they had detained two individuals who had tried to leave the store with bottles of alcohol concealed in a bag.
According to deputies, 21-year-old Aris L. Fanning and 25-year-old Tyrell A. Sims entered the store and began selecting bottles from the alcohol section. Surveillance reportedly showed Sims handing items to Fanning, who placed them into her bag before both suspects walked past the checkout area without paying.
When questioned, Sims allegedly admitted he “could have paid” but said the pair simply decided to take the items instead. Deputies discovered Fanning had an active misdemeanor warrant for Making False Statements.
Sims was cited for Theft in the 3rd Degree and released with a court date, while Fanning was booked into the Spokane County Jail on her warrant and a new Theft 3rd Degree charge. Her bond was set at $1,500, according to authorities.
