Spokane Valley, WA – A suspected impaired driver was arrested late Saturday after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop and leading Spokane Valley Deputies on a brief pursuit, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they spotted a silver Chevrolet Equinox without a front license plate around 9:40 p.m. near Broadway Avenue and North University Road. The driver, identified as 46-year-old Kenneth W. McBride, reportedly appeared impaired during the initial contact.

As deputies attempted a traffic stop, McBride allegedly accelerated and fled. Deputies pursued the SUV until it pulled into a parking lot near Valley Hospital, where it was found unoccupied. A short time later, deputies located McBride nearby and ordered him to stop.

According to the sheriff’s office, McBride initially ignored commands and ran before surrendering. Deputies say the female passenger told them McBride had warrants and was trying to avoid arrest.

McBride was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of attempting to elude a police vehicle, DUI, resisting arrest, and driving while suspended or revoked. He was also wanted on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant.

A judge later set McBride’s bond at $10,000. Deputies said a search warrant was obtained for a blood sample to confirm suspected impairment.
